The draw did open up for her with 2nd seed Korpatsch (who isn't having a good time lately) and even Reix going out, but she has beaten her seeding, so it's been a very good tournament so far.
That result should also see Lumsden in the main draw of Bolton now, saving one of her MDWCs and can give that opportunity to some one else - a good result all round.
Diatchenko edges past Zanevska in 3, so the top half has went with seeding as it's 1st vs 3rd seed in the semi final. Diatchenko won Shrewsbury 60k and then promptly pulled out of Glasgow the next week, so I wonder if she pulls out of Bolton if she wins this.
It's quite nice having strong players in a home event, but at the same time, when we are crying out for a few runs and a bit success, losing a circa top 100 player would probably help the cause.
Just to point out that, in the singles, although Myrtille Georges is yet to play, there was only one French woman in the last 8.
Which is not suprising, really, given there were no French women in the top 8 acceptance list - indeed, there were only 2 in the whole of the acceptance list (Dodin having dropped out), and pretty low down at that (15th and 19th).
Was just having a quick look on OER and they certainly aren't doing as well generally as their male counterparts. They do have 5 players ranked higher than our 3rd, but there is a bit of a sizeable gap to their 6th highest.
Thought Burel might have got a WC here or even Ferro, who apart from a run in that Mexico 125k event that Swan had to pull out of, she's lost in the 1st round of pretty much every other event she has played this year, including Miami - could have used it to try and get some momentum going again.

And to add to more French misery, Georges has given Anderson a walkover to the semi final and a meeting with Dart. Was hoping that would have gone 3 sets and late into the evening, but she should be a lot fresher than Harriet who has had to play 9 sets to Robins 5.
Georges is currently in the Bolton field, so wonder if there is any lasting effects there. Hopefully nothing serious for her.
I think Harriet's a very different player now than she was in 2016. I fancy the match will be much closer this time.
Yes, their rankings were very different then. Anderson achieved her career high of 183 a month after that result whilst at the end of 2016 Harriet was still only ranked 338.
Harriet first on tomorrow at 1pm UK. Bookies can hardly split them, Harriet 4/5, Robin 10/11, so Harriet the ever so slight favourite, but basically 50/50.
Robin's less time on the court may prove decisive and perhaps Harriet might have Monterrey somewhere in the back of her mind, but I also don't think we can read too much into that first meeting nearly 3 years ago.
It would be great if she pulls it off to get at least 19 extra points, but if she does lose, it will still be a very productive tournament - 29 points (not all net), so basically the equivalent of reaching a 25k final, 3 wins under her belt - the first since early Jan, exceeded her seeding (even if her last 2 opponents were qualifiers) and she could get to Mexico a bit earlier.

Yes. And they haven't even got a consolation French women in the doubles !
So out of 12 players left standing, it's GB 4, France 0
