Week 13 - ITF (W60) - Croissy-Beaubourg, France - Hard Indoor

And for anyone following the SE Bolton situation, Tomova has taken the first set off Manasse and is a break up in the 2nd. If Tomova wins that, GB should be just about guaranteed 3 direct entries into Bolton, whether the 3rd be Maia or Emma remains to be seen.

Harriet plays a Q vs Q winner in the QF - Ferrrando vs Paar who are both also in SE contention for Bolton.

Edit - actually that's not true. Maia is currently 2nd in line for a non SE spot, so if Ferrando or Paar got to the final, Maia would be pushed out, unless there was another MD withdrawal.

I thought I'd never heard the name Laura-Ioana Paar before, especially as she is almost 31 so not a new up and comer, and was going ask if anyone had, but it's actually Laura-Iona Andrei who has seemingly recently married her coach and that name is more recognisable. She made back to back QFs in GB 25k events in November, beating SBG and Eden along the way, but she also lost 6-4 6-2 to Harriet a few weeks earlier when Harriet won the Norwegian 25k title. Assuming she beats Ferrando, she'll need respect as she has already beaten Galfi and Korpatsch in straight sets, but that would be a reasonably kind QF draw.

Thanks for explaining that - I saw the two names on the draw/live scores and was wondering.

Not sure the end was quite covered so just to confirm that Eden and Beth won 7-5 6-1

I was waiting to find out their opponents - who have just started their match wink

Edit: Might not have to wait too long - the No 2 seeds have just been bageled in 16 minutes, only winning 7 points

I'm not going to be following in detail and giving updates of this match, but Naomi's conqueror Ferrando has started like a train against Andrei/Paar and is already *4-0 up.

As mentioned on the Bolton/Sunderland thread, Manasse is out, so one less potential Bolton SE candidate to consider.

Harriet back on court for her doubles.

Ferrando serving at 5-3 on the other court.

Not going to match the little matter of 105 points Beth & Eden got for winning a round at last month's Dubai Premier 5 but that's 15 points so far for them here, a net counter for both.

Harriet's first two wins do not change her ranking position at all. If she can manage to reach the SF however, then finally her live ranking position will start to move up this week. Still touch and go which of the two qualifiers she will meet in the QF. It's on serve third set.

R16: DART, Harriet (GBR) [5] 140 beat BUCSA, Cristina (ESP) [Q] 297 =CH 6-2 2-6 7-6(0)

QF: DART, Harriet (GBR) [5] 140 vs Laura-Ioana PAAR/ ANDREI (ROU} [Q] 409 (CH:280)

Edit: Added the QF match up now its available.

live-tennis ( yes, I know re its limitations at times ) has Harriet live doubles #101 ( up 3 ) on what will so far be unchanged points. But a QF win would show her as top 100 ( and it has got her own current and potential points right ).

Paar/Andrei recovers to take the deciding set 6-4 and faces Harriet next.

Harriet is quite a big favourite to win tomorrow, unlike her first 2 matches. She's also the only remaining seed in the bottom half:

(1)Vitalia Diatchenko (RUS) vs. Maryna Zanevska (BEL)
(3)Tereza Smitkova (CZE) vs (6)Viktoriya Tomova (BUL)

Myrtille Georges (FRA) vs. Robin Anderson (USA)
(5)Harriet Dart (GBR) vs. (Q)Laura-Ioana Paar (ROU)

She should win, as long as she's not feeling too below paar  wink
