Naomi has lost the first set 4-6. Just a solitary BP in the whole set, which Naomi lost. However the stat that jumps out is that she only won 3 return points against the WR 470, and 2/3 of those points were DFs. So she won only 1 live point returning serve... Ferrando served only 1 ace to Naomi's 6, so it's not that she was serving bullets either...
This set is going better though. *5-3. Naomi serving for it. No idea if there were BPs to defend, but both of NB's last 2 service games did go to deuce.

I think there were 2 BP's in the fifth game and none in the 7th game. Served out the 9th game to 15.
One slightly positive news for her is that she will be in Bolton main draw following Tan's withdrawal, but (any) wins are proving to be so elusive these days.
It's hard to believe just how far she has fallen in the past 12 months or so. After a promising end to 2017, she by no means started 2018 strongly, but pretty much exactly a year ago she won a round at WTA Monterrey and had 5-5 in the deciding set against the 2nd seed Babos for a place in the QFs. There was a bit of life during the pre-grass Asian ITF swing, but once those points are off, she'll slip down even more significantly. She was losing in Macon 25k quals and now after a month off, it's still the same story - hopefully she has plans her next couple of months carefully while she's still sort of in a position to do so.
I noticed she has spent some time working on her serve over the last month, and at least that was refelcted in the stats today.
13 aces, only 2 DF, 65% first serves in and 74% won.
Perhaps she could spend a little time working on the return now as it wasn't very good today.
Different websites obviously show different things . The one I copied from now seems to have vanished. Sadly the only thing that won't change is the 9-11.
And she's not even Stockport's finest at the moment. They are playing at Edgeley Park and hopefully now they are out of the tinpot trophy ,they can now concentrate back on winning promotion from the league.
