Week 13 - ITF (W60) - Croissy-Beaubourg, France - Hard Indoor

Naomi is top seed in qualifying so just misses out on the MD and how she would love a win or two here. Eden and Beth also in qualifying but sadly face the 2nd and 3rd seeds respectively first up and both look very tough matches. Of the two Eden probably has the better chance.

QR1: Naomi BROADY (GBR) [q1] 266 vs Cristiana FERRANDO (ITA) 470 (CH:268 Aug 17)

QR1: Eden SILVA (GBR) 466 vs Diana MARCINKEVICA (LAT) [q2] 268 (CH:196 April 14)

QR1: Sarah Beth GREY (GBR) 446 vs Jana FETT (CRO) 269 (CH:97 Oct 17)

Eden a break up, *4-2, had a GP to make it 5-2, but back on deuce. Has another now.

I was looking at the odds last night and saw Fett 2/7 and SBG 5/2 and was thinking that's far too short for SBG, but have since saw they have changed to 1/9 vs 5/1 which is probably more of a fair reflection. Not sure if it was a palpable error (mistake) last night or if relatively significant money went on Fett to force the change?

Naomi's is pretty much 50/50, 4/6 (NB) vs 11/10, despite the Italian being one of the lowest ranked in the Q draw. I suppose, if the rankings were 10 months instead of 12, then they would be a pretty similar ranking unfortunately.

Eden did hold, but the Latvian has as well - *5-3.

First set in the bag for Eden, 6-3.

That's an excellent win for Eden and a welcome 3 pts. smile Julie Gervais up next, who is still higher ranked than Eden but not nearly so far ahead. 2 more points for the winner.

QR1: Eden SILVA (GBR) 466 beat Diana MARCINKEVICA (LAT) [q2] 268 (CH:196 April 14) 6-3 2-6 10-4

FQR: Eden SILVA (GBR) 466 vs Julie GERVAIS (FRA) [q10] 403=CH

Great win. I checked back and saw the match was over, so thought surely Marcinkevica couldn't have won 2 sets in my time away, completely forgetting about the MTB again. Won that 10-4.

On the board at last - saved a set point with an ace.
Only Beth's second singles match of the year. Looking likely to be a short one as well.

Yes, the MTB caught me out too (again!) - but all was good smile

Great win.

I never normally bet on Naomi (sorry, Stockport's finest) but, flush from a nice little 50p flutter on Eden, I have invested 20p on Naomi - surely she's got a better chance of winning this match than those odds suggest????
