There was a training camp in La Manga last week. Hence why they are all there

Surely they can't all have been at the training camp!

Any clues on who was actually there?

Assume lots of players, about as many coaches, Uncle Tom Cobley and all.

And seriously, yes it would be interesting to know more.

I think most of them were. Maybe not Marni as she's based in Spain anyway (I believe).

THere's certainly a huge heap of them in this photo from a couple of days ago:

Remember, the Training Camp at La Manga is the jolly for all the individual coaches and the LTA bods.

YWe arent going to forget, you remind us every year .... that it is the jolly. Personally I see nothing wrong with it. Generally the place has an elite sporting team there every week and excellent facilities. They do plenty of bussiness with other tennis associations.

Its out of season re holiday makers and would be relatively cheap and the timing is perfect to assess and prepare the youngsters out doors for the coming season. It runs into a string of relatively local high quality tournaments.

I've no problem with the kids' training camp.

And holding it in a warmer climate.

As you say, a good training block and assessment.

Most federations do it.

But why do the LTA pay for a week's full-time salary, plus travel, plus board and loading for EVERY single personal coach?

No other federation I know does that.

They have a federation training camp, with the couple of federation coaches, and then do a briefing session for the coaches when they get back.

I'm not sure that individual coaches were allowed to attend this year - or at least not all of them.

The image you've linked in does seem to be very spartan with regard to non-LTA coaching staff!

Possibly now it's just an LTA jolly with a few "chosen" players being brought in to justify it?

(( I'll climb back in my box and hide now .. ))

If so, I take it back, Hilda's Uncle, re the individual coaches and just back up your comment that, in that case, there seem to be a very large number of LTA staff.
