Bublik also went on to beat Sandgren this evening so Dan can take some comfort in that.

Not really, Sandgren is challenger trash if I ever saw it. His AO QF was a fluke as was his 250 win.

Think there is a lag on your stream bud. Dan is 6-2 1-0 up with a break in the second.

Excellent win for Dan 6-2 6-0. Some really good and imaginative tennis at times.

The lucky boy makes the most of his good fortune, but in the next round:

L64:  (20) Denis Shapovalov (CAN) WR 23 (= CH) vs (LL) Daniel Evans WR 97

Who knows?  At least he's back up there, competing with the world's best!

Just been to the airport to pick up a friend. Looks like I missed all the fun. Well played Dan.

I think Dan has an excellent chance in this match.  According to some guy on Twitter who goes by the name of Steven wink, Dan has already beaten Shap twice.

Well done to Dan, I didn't expect that at all, gladly got that wrong !

A day off now and then a very attractive match v shapo. I'd expect that will be on a decent court , I think Dan can frustrate shapo but it should be a good test for both and a match that could go both ways. Dan up to 89 in live rankings now.

Good luck to Kyle who plays ivashka today !

Agreed Denis Shapovalov was really over hyped in last few years and has plateaued.  He will probably have a Verdasco, Guilbis, Monfils, Fognini style career. He has great talent, but there is not much between the ears.

What you also find is, a lot of the kids, eg players under the age of 25 simply cannot handle Evo's style, not because it is great, but because they have never seen it, as is not something you see that often these days.  Evo's crazy slicing will send Shopovlaov crazy, may even hit an umpire, who knows.
