Well he's won against Isner before in the US, mind you I was there vocally cheering him on, but would love to see him reach the last eight here.

Really good win against Raonic. Well done Kyle!

Nix.  You need to be on the next flight to Miami.  wink

For what it's worth, Thompson then proceeded to see off the tenth seed, Karen Khachanov, by 2 & 3 & has followed that up with 5 & 5 win over Dimi (24)!

I recall Jordan Thompson having a tendency to be rather unpredictable from match to match and sometimes within matches.

I think he may have quite a high top level but a tendency to go walkabout.

We will see how things pan out at the proper business end but I think it is worthy of note that, while Zverev and Khachanov didn't hang around long, more than half of the singles men into R4 are aged under 25. 9 out of 16.

We have a Coric vs Kyrgios match and a Tsitsipas vs Shapovalov one.

So Kyle is on the main showcourt today, first up at 4pm UK time. One thing of note from the last 16 field is that there are 2 players each from USA, Australia, Canada, and a South African and a Brit - so 8 players from non European mainland countries (being careful over how I describe GB!) which is probably the most in quite a while, particularly as none of those are from South America either.

Whatever Brexiteers may or may not achieve, they can't remove the UK from geographically remaining in Europe

true - I was going to say 8 players from English speaking countries but then felt some may argue against that for Canada (and South Africa perhaps?), and ex Commonwealth countries probably wouldnt pass the PC test either!
