Its just heart sinking every time. She needs to drop down and hope to pick up some wins and get that momentum back. She just can't close anything out.

She used to serve aces. They seem to have deserted her and she hasn't much else to offer at the moment.

Quality seems to leave a lot to be desired but "capitulate" looks maybe rather unfair in this match the way it went.

Though ultimately yes she didn't get the win.

Thing is, she dropped down to an 80k last November and lost to Lao in the 2nd round, 6-1 in both the 2nd and 3rd set. She's lost to Han and JiaJing Lu in recent months who are like Asian 25-60k level. Poor Marta Kostyuk can hardly buy a win these days and is down to around 240 in the live rankings, yet Watson shows up and she gets a win. She's literally not beaten one player in the top 300 in 8 attempts in 2019.

Maybe the Asian swing in late April / early May where there's a run of 60-80k events often with not the strongest fields could be an option, but it's not as if she's constantly losing to seasoned WTA players which is the biggest concern.
