Indian Wells and Miami generally are singles day on, day off in the earlier rounds.
I think Jo, like quite a few, had got a day behind with the earlier weather problems and today is due to be bottom half R3 which is where she is now.
Ah yeah, they're still catching up with missing all of Tuesday and 4 hours on Weds, it was just the scheduling. Wang Yafan, for example, finished her match against Mladenovic yesterday at around 6/7pm UK time and isn't on until around 11pm UK tonight. Whereas it was like 1.30/2am UK when Jo finished and now back on by 8pm (or 10pm - 4pm local times), so less recovery time, but then again if some of the matches before her went longer it wouldn't be as noticeable.
Poor drop shot and the chance of a double break goes for now. I'm not sure if I've seen her execute a good drop shot in recent weeks, but she keeps on attempting it.
Hope that doesn't come back to cost her this set, 3 BPs come and go, plus had the chance of a 4th but it a forehand long and Wang eventually held. Could have been real daylight.
*3-2
2 reasonably comfortable service games. *4-3

Bit poor how it's China's best player and a current top 20 player against our best hope and a recent former champ here, yet it's bung on a court with no hawkeye.
Another game and more failed break point chances. Shes had opportunities in 4 of Wang's 5 service games so far, but has only taken one. Serving to stay in the set now.
*4-5.

Jo's had 10 BPs, chances on pretty much every game, yet one converted. Wang should get credit for saving them, but you're not going to win at this level with that conversion ratio. So disappointing the way this has gone from 4-2 first set.
