Week 12 - Play in Challenger (€46,600+H) - Lille, France (indoor hard)

Jan had 5-2* in the final set, but it's back on serve now. Jan was broken to 15 when trying to serve it out.

Tie break. 19 aces for the WC, including a second serve in that last game I was watching.

L16:  Jan Choinski WR 265 defeated (WC) Rayane Roumane (FRA) UNR by 4-6 6-4 7-6(4)  smile

Jan first served for it at 5-3.  Only six of the original 16 seeds have survived their last 16 encounters:  Maden (2), Barrère (3), Bachinger (4), Halys (13), Ofner (14) & de Greef (16).  Jan will play either Maden or de Greef in the QF.

Get in Jan. Was 2-4 down at the sit down, with the opponent looking comfortable on serve, but a few errors crept in and Jan won 5 points in a row, to take it 7-4.

A 3rd Challenger QF already this year.

One more win could see Jan back into the Top 250, his career high is 234 so not too shoddy

Great stuff.

Do love a third-set tie-breaker that goes our way biggrin

Shame for Jan, he had 3-1* in that second set but lost a couple of long games on serve.

Vandenburg proven correct again. Not much point in shilly-shallying about winning handfuls of rounds everywhere but never going deep, only going to collect enough points for the cranberry sauce leagues that way.

Pity. Was a tough one against a solid campaigner who is at a CH 108 at age 29. Solid start to the year and let's hope that Jan can push past the QFs in the coming months.

Jan has 33 points coming off by start of June - capable of going up 50 places if he plays as present smile Not a superstar but a solid performer.
