First set to Jodie, critical break at 5-3. Currently no breaks in the 2nd set. Real shame they had to play each other, as Tara seems to be playing better... 6-4 3-2*
About as good as I could have hoped for personally. Tara obviously gets no real reward for her good win earlier, but at least it ensured a GB qualifier, and if it was a choice, I'd go for Jodie every time. Didn't have much expectations for EWS.
Gabi has drawn an IR in the first round and potentially 3rd seed Han (who shocked Hev couple of weeks ago) in the second round. I think that's a good draw. Three s a Q vs Q, so would be good for Jodie to get that spot. Han does also open up with a Q, so that could be interesting if it was Jodie.
Lopatetska vs top 100 player Kumkhum in the first round.
Qualifying placements should be soon as all the Q matches have finished. That Tessah with the long name beginning with A was 5-1 up in her second set but managed to lose it, but eventually came through in the MTB.
Yes, I think the rest of the draw will be very happy with Lopa playing Luksika Kumkhum, the top seed in the first round, and one of them cancelling the other out! That was clearly a potential final there...
Tara with Emina Bektas in the doubles again, after reaching the final last week, EWS with Ankita Raina, another old partner of hers, and Sam Murray here again doubles only.
Thanks. Could have been better. She's been a lot higher ranked previously and seemingly comfortably beat Fran last week, but generally hasn't been in great form this past 9 months or so. Probably 50/50 IMO.
Looks like EWS was injured in her match - picture on instagram with bag of ice on left calf. Have to see whether she can play doubles, but match isn't on tomorrow's OOP so she has an extra day.
