Week 11 - Challenger ($162,480+H) - Arizona Tennis Classic, Phoenix, AZ, USA (hard)

Broken to 15 in opening game of second set. Long way back now, he didn't have a single BP opportunity in the first set.

4-6 0-1*

L32:  (8) Taro Daniel (JPN) WR 71 defeated Daniel Evans WR 100 by 4 & 2  cry

Time for a spot of R&R before Miami, I think...

Not a single BP for Dan in the whole match, so he doesn't stand a chance of winning. I think he got broken in the first game of each set, Taro was always ahead.

I thought keeping on playing was helping make Dan stronger and certainly no harm. But maybe the last few weeks have caught up with him a bit.

A 3-4 day gap is the kind of recovery time Dan kind of needs right now

Further to FW's post on the IW doubles thread (& above):

L16:  (1) Jamie Murray & Neal Skupski CR 40 (6+34) vs Jason Jung & Mitchell Krueger (TPE/USA) CR 633 (315+318)

Since nobody else has picked this up:

L16:  (1) Jamie Murray & Neal Skupski CR 40 (6+34) defeated Jason Jung & Mitchell Krueger (TPE/USA) CR 633 (315+318) 6-3, 7-6(4).

smile  I actually thought it was being played later, so hadn't got round to checking.

QF:  (1) Jamie Murray & Neal Skupski CR 40 (6+34) vs Marcus Daniell & Wesley Koolhof (NZL/NED) CR 108 (62+46)

So at least Jamie's finally got a first round match under his belt & bagged at least 25 precious points in the process.  smile

Actually purely for Jamie's short term ranking position his points here this week could be quite precious.

He has dropped to live rank 11 ( and could fall lower ) due to the group of players that were behind him having a good Indian Wells but could retake a few with a very good week here.

And if the boys win this event Jamie's extra curricular 125 points will be better than Bruno's extra curricular 90 points ( with Melo ) so he would move back ahead of him too.

Currently 10-10 in an MTB. No pressure.

That was always going to be a sterner test & I feared the worst when the first set went down the tubes.

Oh, please!  cry  Neither!    These pointless attempts at "portmanteau" nicknames for doubles partnerships are childish in the extreme! no

I like them and think they're good fun, as well a less typing.
