Freya gets an unseeded player, but not one of the IR entrants. It will still be a tough match for her. I also see she has 5 points coming off on 1/4, when these points will be added, so she needs another win to be in plus territory when these points go on.
R32: Freya CHRISTIE (GBR) [Q] 505 vs Olga IANCHUK (UKR) 320 (CH:213 Aug 17)
Seems the no SE's allowed Olga to sneak into the main draw which in turn allowed Freya to sneak into quals. Won't be easy and you'd think the Ukranian would be the fave, but as she just sneaked into the main draw (so there must be 15 or so in the draw ranked above her), her inactivity, just 2 matches and 2 defeats this year, including Jodie as mentioned, it seems it could be much worse.
Doing a bit more digging and it looks like the only 2 players she's beaten since mid-September is a 14 yr old Belarussian WC and a Portuguese player currently ranked 853 (who took a set). Mind, if you digested Freya's recent record them it probably wouldn't look much better.
Well, Freya is capable of much more than her current ranking, and she showed good fortitude in her q matches, so let's hope she can produce something decent against Ianchuk too...
First though she will be back on court later today with her first round doubles match.

Could be a good scouting mission for her.
Yes, I've just seen she is up against Ianchuk in the doubles too
I've had a feeling for a while that Freya has a big win inside her waiting to emerge and I'm hoping we might see it this week. We can't complain about drawing Ianchuk since she was one of the lowest ranked players to make the MD as of right. Her ranking is no higher than Freya's CH so in theory this is a match she should be looking to win - certainly if we're expecting her to get back close to the top 300. Anyway wishing her loads of luck and hoping for the best...
Yeah, I still do look at Freya's results / schedule more closely than her similarly ranked compatriots like SBG, Alicia, EWS, Tara, Sam etc. as I do still think she can get back to near or beyond her career high, as I previously did with Jodie, who now really does seem to be making her move and getting to that higher profile level where she can play in bigger events, which I generally am more interested in. Because she's been on the scene a long time, I keep forgetting shes not long past her 21st birthday. There were encouraging signs in the recent GB events, so hopefully this can be the start of her getting some form / confidence back and do a Jodie.
Doubles underway and they had a break advantage, but it's now 4-3 *0-40
Credit to Freya for making this trip too. Maia was comfortably in qualifying, and as Ianchuk shows, would have got into the MD, but withdrew... It is about time Freya started to produce some better wins again. She certainly has the ability. Like AV, before reading his comment I had also just checked her age again and was also surprised to see that she is just 21 still. So a combination of increased maturity and her game gelling again and she should be able to move upwards again. I would also agree that of the GB players outside the current top 10 I would view her, Fran and Emma R as having the best chances of being able to move upwards into the top 10. Emma R is struggling at the moment to get game time so it may take her a little longer.
Freya should be underway soon. I see the seed in her section, Ozgen (7) has lost, so may be an opening, although I think the 18 yr old Belarusian who beat her is fairly highly rated.
Ah, I was wondering why it hadn't started. Google had it down as 10.15 and I saw one women's match on the court had just finished, didn't realise it was a joint event.
Edit - That first women's match lasted 3 hours, so makes sense.
