In fact there is something wrong here. Because there are several pairs in the doubles that have much lower rankings than Sofia and Emily combined. So they should have got in... Their ranking is 211 +336, and there are several whose rankings are definitely lower than that. For example, Kuwata and Sharipova are only 237 + 495. Lu and Ma, who are not WCs, are also only 293 + 522. Thus if Sofia and Emily entered properly they seem to me to have real cause for complaint.
Liang and Xun are also 516 +236... and these are just the ones I've looked at...

Yes, it's singles or doubles rankings for ITF entry now. A few close matches which went the wrong way in second half of last year (Tianjin in particular) are now leaving her struggling for playing options.
Non British bump, but shout out to the recent Aussie Open junior winner Clara Tauson, 3 months past her 16th birthday and had made the final of a 60k. By no means murderers row, but a solid enough run - the Aussie Open jr champ directly before her in Liang, Cepelova who was top 50 iirc not too long ago, 7th seed Fresh in the QF and then today 8th seed JJ Lu who had been in a little bit of form recently and beat Katy the other week.
Assuming she has enough left in the tank, she should be the favourite to win it now.
