So we both agree Jaggy will be disappointed which should make him happy, ie being disappointed.

Good news for the Norwich City fan(s) on here. You'd expect that football match will just be more or less finishing and then Dan starting and should be finished at a reasonable hour as well.

Yup, should be a very nice double-header, although not sure the missus will be as impressed!

Yes, if there is a choice I'm afraid Dan might not be the priority today, not when promotion is at stake biggrinbiggrin

I'm doubtful of any of the three current players making ATP top 10: Edmund's game seem to have lacked development since his AO heroics in 2018; Norrie's game doesn't stand out sufficiently imo and Evans - whose game I admire most - simply lacks the physical atributes to deal with ATP automatons on a constant, day-to-day basis. A top 10 player has a least an outside chance of a grand slam title. Do any of our top players have that in their game? There's just too much younger, faster, stronger, battle-hardened competition all round.

I hope they concentrate on forging solid top 100 ATP careers and keep on banking those £40,000 cheques as Evans did just recently. That's the best legacy they can leave, both for themselves and as encouragement for others in their wake. They need to leave the sport with seven figure sums behind them. Reaching top 100 doesn't make you a successful touring professional if you only make the grade fleetingly or get chucked off tour when you've arrived. Substantial prizes won over a five, six year period and the odd cup held aloft does that for you.

Not at all Oakland, Id like to be wrong here and in fact I accept almost zero is a bit harsh. Im scratching my head how someone can be happy being disappointed. A bit of a misnomer that surely? If we can have a top 10 player within 5 years then this post can be flagged and Ill say well done I was wrong. So I hope to be actually. And then we can all be happy

Regarding Felix AA, he shares the same birthday as Federer, he wasnt even born for a year when Federer was his age. 19 years of a difference exactly!

Thats pretty much how I see it, good summation.

I think Kyle has an outside chance of winning a slam, Rodge cant have many years left and is being increasingly more selective in terms of the slams he chooses to play Rafa and Novak will increasingly be less able to deal with niggles over two weeks and 5 sets. Draws open up, Kyle has had injuries and illness to deal with this last 12 months but generally progressed year on year. This only his second year as a full time touring ATP pro and he has a career high of 13 bit early to write that off as the peak of his career.

Yes, top 10 ( his stated tennis ambition on the ITF site ) seems a perfectly reasonable thought regarding Kyle given as said his age and CH ( 14 incidentally) though fair enough to doubt it as opposed to dismiss it. Fair dos, Jaggy, on the taking back of the almost zero chance regarding any Brit becoming top 10 in these coming years.

I'm pretty doubtful though of a Slam ever for Kyle. My concern would increasingly be rather less the older top players but the younger ones. If there is a window faster risers may close it. But there were some good developments last year in spite of these injury and illness issues and I'd love to be wrong. It's been known.
