Bottom half is still pretty strong, but that top half is anybody's. He's not really faced much yet and the way the draw has gone, probably won't but you wouldn't have really thought Thiem would go on a run given his start to the year, and yet, he's probably favourite to make the final in the top half.

First match my Dad took me too was Leeds v Norwich at Elland Road, 2-1 in 74 (1-1). Would be good to see them go up together (and not Sheffield utd!)

tennis abstracts updated predictions is viewing it almost as a toss up for the final of Thiem, Monfils or Raonic with little to separate them v Fed or Nadal, and ditto, nothing really to choose.

Nishioka v Kecmanovic, what is that about?!

Luton storming back mind. Looking like 3 promotions in very little time. Been downhill for Carlisle for a while unfortunately.

Went downhill when that loose cannon Michael Knighton who owned man utd for a short while took them over...but back to the tennis and well done to Kyle!

Actually a real shame, he has the hardest draw left in the next round, lets hope Stan and Fed fight each other to a standstill! Could prove to be a big, big opportunity for many of the guys left in this field

Looking forward to this one, Kyle hopefully now fully recuperated has a chance to show us where he is at. Love the way he is putting players outside the top 50 away in 2 sets which is consistent with cruising through the first week of a slam without breaking sweat, very excited about Kylesnext 4-5 years if he can stay healthy.

Its hard to know what the definition of success is for a medium sized town clubs is. Carlisle is tiny (79K) compared to Luton (200K) so I would generally saying having a football league club at all, year in year out is a colossal achievement. By comparison Worcester population 100k have a team in step 5 of non league!! Never really worked out how they got into the old first division to contaminate my first ever sticker book with players no one had ever heard of but were dead easy to swap! NB one player in their squad by far the most talented and indeed the only one I can actually recall made his debut for England at the age of 35! Coincidentally I saw him play loads against Worcester as a kid an amazing talent.

Luton also had some good times under David Pleat bit this meteoric rise has been down to the highly rated and indeed excellent management skills of Nathan Jones who recently left for Stoke. Mick Harford is no mug a big lead may see them through to promotion but I cant see it continuing beyond this year. Very impressed with their support, I can remember them in the National League on a cup run completely filling the Jimmy Seed stand at Charlton, not usually a place for agoraphobics.

Of the 16 players who made the last 16 in the AO, only 3 of them (Fed Nadal and Raonic) have made the last 16 in IW. Looking like the WTA at the moment!

The bottom half of the draw is significantly stronger than top half, sadly for Kyle. Here are the tennis abstract forecast percentages. Nishioka certainly seems to have found himself in a good position this week. If Kyle can find a way past Fed, then Shapo likely will be next and then Nadal, so a tough old path ahead!

We even have our own thread in the chat section.  I generally try and put my football comments there, but occasionally I get a bit over enthusiastic and post in the tennis thread. wink
