I agree with Indiana, I don't think it can really be a case of getting tight when close to victory in 25K main draw matches if she hadn't even been winning sets in them for nearly two years. Also, she fought back in the 3rd set yesterday (even though it wasn't enough in the end), whereas someone allowing themselves to get strung out by the run of losses would probably have folded completely after getting bagelled in the 2nd, although I guess it could have been a case of her playing better once there seemed to be little left to lose or her opponent playing worse as she got close to the line.
I remember seeing Emily play in Surbiton (it wasn't last year and I was in the US throughout the previous year, so it must have been 2016) and being quite impressed. I can't remember exactly why, but I think she seemed quite powerful for her age, so maybe she was able to overpower juniors (and is still able to overpower players who are ranked significantly below her) but hasn't developed the rest of her game enough to be able to compete at 25K level.
I remember her being a fairly solid player too, so Michael D might well be right when he suggests that she needs to identify a couple of her biggest strengths and concentrate on making them into real weapons.
Of course, I'm speculating with next to no actual knowledge, so I might well be talking complete rubbish, but like most people on here, I'd love to see her making more progress for her own sake.

Katie is 4th on again, so early hours. Play starts at 10pm UK, so probably looking at a circa 3am start.
Not just Thandi, it would be nice for her to get a top 250 win in general. She's 1-8 (against that calibre) since the US Open and I just had a quick look and amazingly the only top 250 player she has beaten since then, Martina Di Giuseppe (193), very recently got her first win away from clay since May 2015:
The Italian is now 1-12 away from the clay since then, but 90%+ of her matches are on the dirt - just as well she's not a grass court specialist as she'd certainly struggle to achieve a top 200 ranking with the limited grass events on the WTA and ITF circuit.
Katie is the 8/15 favourite, so hopefully she can take advantage of the 4th seed crashing out and halt that unwanted H2H record, as a win would temporarily move her to an equal CH of 163.
There's an interview with Katie from a couple of days ago on the tournament Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pg/GuanajuatoOpen2019/videos/?ref=page_internal
Full match replay here for those interested. Seems a bit like the Dublin 15k last year that Emily won, where its a dedicated platform with commentary - not that I can understand it mind.
