I think Jo looks much more dynamic recently and is showing more variety
Yes agree. And mentally she seemed to get over her argie bargy with the umpire better than she used to . At least she used the energy better. (As an aside, I really don't like the way she talked to the Umpire though, even though she had a point. She did the same , only worse,at Nottingham, totally disrespectful. )
Yes, should have won that really, they were in front all the way until 8-8. Carla S-N was looking a bit lost for a while, seemed to be in the wrong place and mistiming the ball.
At the moment I would think Heather should be playing in any live doubles in our upcoming Fed Cup play-off.
Agreed. But with who?
I'd say Harriet if fit and well. Anne may say Jo.
Would agree with your comment about Heather playing in a live doubles. If playing in the singles takes as much out of Jo as Bath did ,then she will definitely not be playing any deciding doubles. However on WTA rankings Jo is our third highest ranking doubles player. Interestingly our 2nd highest ranked doubles player is Naomi Broady who will not be playing ! I think if fit and well then Harriet would be the best choice with Heather if only because she had a successful run in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon last year. The likes of Katie B. and Katy S. have lowly doubles rankings . However Katy S. played well in the doubles at Bath even if they were dead rubbers. You don't need your best singles player to win the doubles. Japan with a doubles team who have not made their names in singles beat us last year. Naomi Osaka was not needed for the doubles.

I would stay with the successful pairing of Dart and Swan. Heather is a good back up for singles and doubles but she needs a few wins before the Fed Cup to restore her confidence. Is it telling that she doesn't appear in the film promoting the event? The four who played in Bath are all featured.
Anne knows them all well so she will be able to decide based on their form in practice. Dart and Swan haven't done much since Bath either.
Katie Swan has nothing remotely like the experience and relative success in doubles of Heather ( plus a Wimbledon mixed doubles title much as I have my issues with the competitiveness of mixed). She's reached the top 40 and is a WTA International doubles finalist last month and apparently personally played pretty well again here.
Good experience for Harriet and Katie S in the group week against the opposition there but if Heather is fit and well I honestly don't think it should be a contest that Heather plays in any play-off deciding doubles with probably either Harriet or Jo. That would not be for giving further experience, that would be for giving us the best chance to win.
