Some interesting partnerships, IW certainly getting their money's worth from the Williams sisters as they are playing doubles. Also in the draw is Azarenka with Svitolina, Bertens with Vekic, Sloane with Bouchard.

 Williams sisters now withdrawn, draw card states change of schedule, although both still appear in singles lists currently

Jo first on tonight so a 7.10pm start.

I know she's not American and not necessarily a big name, but poor Golubic will be playing her 8th match in 8 days, not one day off - with half of the first round matches tomorrow, it would have been nice if she was scheduled for then.

That went quick. Jo breaks again to love, and that's the set 6-2

I see Dan Smethurst is in the box with her team. Don't know whether to read anything into that or not, as I'd expected him to be with Evo.

Leaving aside the stresses of the final game I really enjoyed that match. I thought Jo showed a lot more variety in her game today, which hopefully reflects the new coach. She also lifted her level on the break points and seemed very in control. Hoping she can keep it going.

 H2H is 3-2 with their last meeting in Rome last year, with Jo only losing 4 games. Still, Hsieh isn't nicknamed "Funky Sue" for nothing...
