Is there any reason why Harriet is not entered in the qualifying? Has she played since the Fed Cup?
That remains a mystery. Her last singles match was exactly 7 weeks ago against Sharapova. She entered IW but withdrew last week and was still training in London a few days ago.
Whether she picked up a knock at the Fed Cup or just had her confidence knocked a bit by that double bagel and wants to work on a few things, who knows, but it does feel like ages and would be good to see her back in (single's) action soon to build on her great start to the year - it does seem like a chance missed to progress even further.
Harriet posted on Instagram yesterday. Still in London training - said she hope to be fit in time for Miami.
Edit: - Typos, I'm always hitting the wrong keys on my tablet, and not spotting the typos until afterwards

Yum, hat for brekkie! (Seriously though Heather....)
^ the addicts post makes it sound like Harriet may have picked up something if she "hopes to be fit"?
Yeah, for a while I really thought that Heather was trying hard to save you that hat after her great 2nd set comeback... but she can't finish a close match, and it's a long time since she has been able to do so.

Katie on first tonight, 7pm UK time. Golubic played W, T, F, S, S last week in the challenger and of course yesterday, so this is her 7th match in as many days. Most of her wins were in straight sets, but that's still a very tough schedule, so hopefully it'll catch up on her today.

Take those 2 Hobart qual wins against the British born Aussies, at the time ranked in the 300s and 400s, out of the equation and it's been a long time since she has won any match. Kenin on Oct 1st would be the last time she has won a close one, that followed her positive WTA Quebec SF run, but it's been pretty much all down hill since then. The way Kenin and Hev have both fared since that match makes that result look more and more like a huge shock.
There were a few breaks throughout, but Golubic ended up getting one more in each set, so finished 4-6 3-6.
Can't really say too much without seeing the match. Slightly unlucky drawing the now higher ranked Golubic, despite her being the 6th seed, but then again, I guess drawing someone like Golubic in the main draw would have been considered decent and she probably is the type of player Katie will eventually need to be beating if she is going push towards the top 60. Mind, that's 7 wins in 7 days for the Swiss and 6 of those have been in straight sets, so fair play to her.
On to Miami next, where she'll have to win 2 Q matches to equal last year's efforts, assuming her QWC from last year isn't upgraded to a MDWC this year.

Some interesting partnerships, IW certainly getting their money's worth from the Williams sisters as they are playing doubles. Also in the draw is Azarenka with Svitolina, Bertens with Vekic, Sloane with Bouchard.

Pretty much every women's FQR match has gone the other way to what I wanted and it's a shame because there's some really generous spots in the main draw. Q vs Q and about 4 or 5 vs WCs.
