So Gimelstob pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour for battery and gets a fine and community service. Wimbledon has now banned him from the veterans events and the Royal Box, ATP council hasnt yet spoken out it seems
I gotta say, this whole situation (as well as the long running doping and match fixing issues) makes tennis look *very* suspect.
Matthew Willis @MattRacquet
Player Council to meet in Rome to decide if Gimelstob continues on ATP Board.
- 1 member is advised by JG (Isner) - 1 member supported him yesterday (Pospisil)
He needs 4 or 5 more out of Djokovic, Anderson, Querrey, Haase, Lu, J.Murray, Soares, Stakho, Vallverdu, Dowdeswell.

Part of what is fishy is right there. Isner is a conflict of interest. Non players (Vallverdu and I am guessing Dowdeswell) don't get to vote.

That does stink. Djoko, Querrey will no doubt support him, Anderson possibly. I would hope Jamie and Soares would vote together against him. But it does look stacked in his favour. ATP could be careful as it could lead to massive sponsorship walk aways if social media starts to work its wonders. Gimelstob should resign really.
Stu Fraser has some choice words to say about him in the opening section of his "The Slice" column in today's Times (behind a pay wall, unless you're a subscriber).
Andy Murray insists Justin Gimelstob has to go: 'I don't see how he can hold down position of authority at ATP' twitter.com/simonrbriggs/status/1122203695050055681 (article is behind a paywall - haven't read it myself)
With the power & leverage Gimelstob has over so many areas of the sport and its wider supply chain, and his demonstrable tendencey to vexatiously pursue grievances and vendettas over years if necessary, they're all probably putting their careers on the line to some extent by coming out so strongly. Good on 'em.
Players need to speak out. Justin Gimelstob has been convicted of a violent assault. It simply can not be possible for anyone to condone this type of behaviour and worse support it. In any other business or sport we would not be discussing this. 9:03 AM - 30 Apr 2019
The council @ATP_Tour need to do something about this and finally end this conversation and shameful period in our great sport . 9:03 AM - 30 Apr 2019
Gimelstob is standing down. Just released a statement claiming he has become too much of a distraction but noticeably devoid of the words, I am sorry, I was wrong or any acknowledgement that his actions were unacceptable. Novak now has a couple of weeks to figure out which puppet he wants to replace him.
About time - the person he refers to in the last para of the above is Novak, clearly they are BFF's or whatever the phrase is. NY Times article mentions them meeting last night
I am glad he has done the right thing to resign. But Novak is playing the room here , with whatever happened to make them oust Kermode, the move to Turin for the Tour Finals and this, Novak is effectively making a coup.

And then he (Novak) wonders why fans don't like him as much as Federer/Rafa/Andy/Delpo etc.
