1) Konta - #1 singles player (possible doubles) 2) Boulter - #2 singles player 3) Dart - #3 singles player (possible doubles) 4) Watson - #1 doubles player
and then if you want/need a 5th player, Swan. Not sure who I'd have as #2 doubles player, it would probably depend on how Jo was in the singles, but maybe Dart partnering Watson.
Edit - you could (just about) make a case for either Watson or Swan being the 4th single's player in the (unlikely) event that one was needed, but hopefully it wouldn't come to that, at least for Kazakhstan, and the playing landscape might look a little different for the next tie this time next year, whatever stage that might be.

I have heard the likes of Jeremy Bates and Jo Durie saying you would always play your best singles player in a deciding doubles. However last year Japan played a recognised doubles pair in the deciding rubber and beat our 2 (singles players) doubles pair Jo and Heather. They did not need Naomi Osaka.Personally I would not play Jo in a deciding doubes. Heather and Harriet is one combination , Harriet and Katie S, Katie B and Katie S,Katie B and Harriet. If we are back at Bath again then 4 singles in 4 days is quite demanding as Jo illustrated this year.A fresh pair in the doubles is a good idea. Heather and Harriet have both had success in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon.

Ehh ?!
Like because the same players will prove best at singles and doubles and the top singles player won't have played 2 singles matches ??
I hope Anne gives it much more consideration than that numptiism. She did of course play Jo and Heather in last year's play-off doubles but hopefully did consider Anna Smith.
Although surprised at that choice I wasn't one to think Anna had to play because she was a doubles specialist and was there. Just she was maybe a better option.
Among the things I like about Leon is that he is adaptable and pragmatic and I can't imagine him working to such a 'rule'.

If you watch on you tube discussion between Jo Durie and Clare Balding when Jo Konta had collapsed that is what Jo Durie said about best singles player playing deciding doubles and Jeremy Bates name gets mentioned. Glad Jo Konta was not involved in any deciding doubles
Confused - I'm sure I was just looking at live scores showing Heather & Fanny's doubles at 2 games all, deuce on their service but now it appears that the match hasn't even started. Did anyone else see this or is it just me?
OK score has magically reappeared and is currently HE/FS* 6-3 1-0 (40-15)

L16: Heather WATSON (GBR) & Fanny STOLLAR (HUN) [1] 130 (39+91) lost to Anna DANILINA (KAZ) & Ingrid NEEL (USA) 303 (147+156) by 3-6 6-3 [10-5]
*1-6 was an unhelpful start to the MTB even if they did get back to 4-6*.
So unfortunately after gaining 170 net points with Fanny last week, Heather will drop 270 net points this week as last year's Acapulco title points with Tatjana Maria drop off.

Pathetic performance. I can only assume they were discussing their flights out of there between points. Did they suspend betting?
On this form I wouldn't pick Heather for a hitting partner. I don't think Anne K will pick her anyway. Dart and Swan will do just fine. Heather's doubles ranking is a complete mystery.
Well reaching a WTA International final just last week back over in Budapest was a contributing factor to her doubles ranking - then her 9th 100+ points score in 14 outings headed by her Wimbledon QF 430 points, like that Acapulco title last year in partnership with Tatjana Maria.
I didn't see any of today's match.

I dont think playing here was such a bad move, it will help Hev settle into the courts and the time zone. Personally when I travel it takes me a good 4-5 days to get settled completely but having to get on and do something straight away really helps.
Difficult to take any posiitves from Heather's showing here so I'll clutch this one!
