This is probably the level Kyle will plateau at in the future. Dan is an all round better player, will be interesting to see where they are by Wimbledon. Kyle has a lot of points coming off in the spring, he has been fortunate with draws last year to get to rank of 14, Id be surprised if he matched the points won on clay this year. Interesting times for our top 3 all headed to the 30-50 rank by the summer you feel.
One has to say Kyle and Dan should hope to win their next match. Kyle seems to be getting sharper and Dan seems to be not feeling any fitness ill effects. Exciting stuff.
Aside from both winning, I guess #2 seed Krajinovic crashing out to Jung has made the match up more likely. The Serb is actually below Dan in the live rankings now because he made Dubai 500 semi final this time last year so has 180 points coming off and will be circa 113.
I think he was a bit fortunate at Paris Masters 2017 when he made the final as he got a bye past Nadal in the QFs, so not only did he avoid an almost certain loss there, he would have been fresher for his semi final and that run allowed him to be a seed in a lot of 2018 events (including Dubai) so he probably is heading back to a more natural ranking now, certainly more than 26 anyway, but he has a lot more big match experience than Jung, so Dan's path is a bit clearer now.

Yes, Anderson and Dimitrov in Australia, Djokovic and Goffin in Madrid. Journeyman pros all of them. Fortunate for Kyle to have been able to get to the latter stages of major events by beating those guys.
Dimitrov and Goffin well off form and now well down rankings. Djokovic at the time as well and Anderson/Isner same thing. Point stands.
And I believe among the other reasonably highly ranked players Kyle beat last year, there were issues like not liking Mondays and their cat having died...
... and they are only Challenger level players anyway.
If we are not careful we are going to be judging the ability of players by their rankings or their head-to-head results, instead of the vastly more accurate "subjective eyeball test".
