Week 9 - Oracle Challenger ($162,480+H) - Indian Wells, CA, USA (hard)

I noticed Albot had withdrawn from this week, even more kudos to Dan and David felgate who appears to have got Dan into a good place mentally and tactically.

Well it hasn't been too pretty, but as I said, who cares. Kyle takes the 1st set 6-4.

Just put this on to watch Dan's match. Does Mike Caton not do the commentary for the USTA any more?

He does, but this is not an USTA event.

Dan and Kedders are both second match on so we have some tough decisions to make.

Going on recent form, Dan should have way too much for Giraldo. I'm looking forward to watching.

Kyle has beaten Rosol in straight sets in both their previous matches.

Again, no offence to anybody, but I'd put Dan's win down to his in-betweener volley during the warm-up (05:50) which clearly startled Istomin to the point he was mentally fried before the match even started.

Reminds me of a boss I used to have who would preface everything with 'No offence but' and then say something that was utterly unoffensive. I found it quite annoying in the end (no offence!).

I guess it is better than someone saying "no offence" and then actually offending you badly! Now that is annoying!

tennis abstract forecasting a Kyle v Dan final in IW.

That would be something. And also clearly puts the kiss of death on any chance of really happening

Well, that's a generous interpretation Jon! Rublev, Krajinovic and Dan are all given very similar chances of reaching the final from the bottom half of the draw, Dan only just marginally ahead of both of them.
