Evo gets the break at the crucial time and will serve for the match at *5-4.

Feeling a bit sorry for that lone ballkid at the net trying to do all the work himself.

That was a high quality  tennis match with few unforced errors from either player. Dan is looking focused and very determined.  Congrats, mate!

L16:   Daniel Evans WR 105 vs Santiago Giraldo (COL) WR 243 (CH = 28 in September 2014 - he's 31)

The Colombian despatched Jared Donaldson (9) in three sets in his second round match.

Dan will play Santiago Giraldo in R3, who has just taken out 9th seed Jared Donaldson.

And in case you haven't had enough yet, Kyle is about to hit the comeback trail and his match is up next in a few minutes.

Hmm, can't see that offending very many at all. Really pleased here too.

Kyle on serve so far but still very early days. First indications are that he might take a while to find his timing consistently. Bit strange to drop down to Challengers to get some court time and then find yourself playing a former Top 5 player in R1 (or is it R2 these days after a Bye).

I would take an injury free win today, however it comes. Playing well comes a distant 2nd in my list of priorities.

Dan really does look fit and focussed - and back to berating himself when his standard slips !

Great to see that magic #100 in live rankings, even if there are still 8 others that could overtake him if they have a good run.
Just keep enough inthe tank for next week Dan, when there are good points to be won.
