Means Wang Qiang in the WTA 125k equivalent. She got one of the 'top 50' WCs so don't know the deal with those and whether tournaments have to accept them, or what they do if there were a few who wanted one.
She is actually in a very similar position to Kyle, not played since the Aussie Open due to injury. She also needs a new coach, but her coach retiring was announced before she entered this event.
She does look a bit out of place here, but I guess she's in the exact same location next week for a much bigger event and it will give herself a chance to ease back into things and gain confidence (2-2 this year) against slightly weaker opposition and get used to her new coach before the more important stuff.

Ah, thanks for the explanation & background, AV.
Ha, probably didn't need go into such detail on this particularly thread, but the parallels with Kyle are really close and it is an interesting topic. I can't imagine a circa top 100 player, playing at their correct level, would be too chuffed to find themselves playing against someone early who really should be playing at a higher one, but they do need to do what's best for them.
what is the rule re ranking level and Challengers - didnt there used to be something stopping top 30 players from dropping down to Challenger level or am i imagining it??
Numbers 11-50 can play with a wildcard. 1-10 cant play at all. Unless it's a £75k or below without hospitality, in which case no wildcard can be granted.

Nishikori is Japanese, saying all oriental people look the same is just not on.
Racism is not tolerated on this forum under any circumstances.
A - Not racist merely.lack of clarity which some people understood anyway and also doesn't make sense for Kei- he isn't top seed as he isn't even playing!
B - clarification above or is nobody allowed to make a mistake in Vandy world?

A good move by Kyle an extra week on these courts will do him no halm in terms of preparation, from what I can tell they are one of the slowest sets of hard courts on tour.

After his so-near-yet-so-far loss in @DelrayBeachOpen Dan Evans was up at 3.30 am for a 5.30 flight from Miami to Palm Springs via Dallas. No resting on the laurels. Plays @oracle Challenger 1st rd
Fair play, considering it was a 19:00ish finish. By the time hes eaten and done some recovery he cant have got more than 5 hours. Or he might just be getting the flight as thats the one he booked and doesnt want to waste money changing. So could still pull out. I guess he might be seeing how he is Tomorrow.
