Week 8 - (ITF W25) - Glasgow, GB Hard

MTB for Emily now as well.

Tara got back on serve, but then broken back straight away so the opponent will try and serve for the match 4-5*

Emily lost 8-10. Looked like there were a lot of momentum shifts - 1-4 to 5-4 to 5-7. She got it back to 8-8* but lose the last 2 points.

Victoria look to be struggling a bit, but Alicia is 5-2* in her first set.

Doubles draw is out - Sasha continues the tradition of GB drawing the top seeds in the first round

Hopefully Alicia is doing what the opponents of Sasha, Emily and Tiff did and lose the 2nd set wide, before storming back in the MTB...

Lost that second set 0-6.

I've been waiting for the main draw to come for a while now. The one in Germany (an hour ahead) came out about 2 hours ago, so in comparison, Glasgow should have been about an hour ago. Both had a 2pm local time sign in.

I think we can take from the double's draw that Krejikova was one of the single's withdrawals as she would have surely been involved in the dubs.

Victoria lost 6-2 6-0, losing 9 games in a row and only taking 6 points in the second set. Bit of a shame she couldn't back up the promise shown last week.

Alicia seems to have stopped on 2-5 in her MTB, so no idea what's happening there, although I suspect not good.

Yep, stopped on *2-5 on Bet365, live scores and Google scores - it's not even on MP, so not sure what the situation is there.

So, so far, it's 1 win and 7 defeats, 5 of those defeats on the MTBs and we can probably add another to that list. A mix of encouraging efforts and disappointing results, but overall, probably worse than I was anticipating.

The draw doesn't have to be made until 7pm. Players in the main draw aren't required to sign in.

The men's singles has been drawn so hopefully this one isn't far off.

Just been made. 4 WCs are those we generally expected. Laura, Emma, Freya all have Qs. Fran 3rd seed, Jodie 7th seed, Maia has one of the lowest ranked main draw entrants (outside of the IRs) and would have got in due to withdrawals. That's pretty decent overall.

It was #1 seed Diatchenko and #3 Krejcikova who withdrew, so that's largely good news as well that a couple of the stronger ones are not there, particularly Diatchenko.
