Lisicki got a last minute offer of that wild card. Phone call after practice yesterday and an overnight flight to get there and play today. (via Instagram)

She's had a bad time recently, hope she can get going again.

Hear hear. Her Wimbledon runs made her very popular over here. If I could change one match in tennis history, that Bartoli final would certainly come close.

Well that was a fluke massive opportunity lost for Eden as can be seen by their comparative rankings, great doubles player and more experienced Hradecka might be.

Q1: SILVA, Eden (GBR) WC 461 lost to HRADECKA, Lucie (CZE) 456 (CH:41 June 11) 6-2 2-6 1-6

To be fair, Lucie did win Trvana 25k just last week, coming through quals, so winning 7 matches (6 in straight sets), including 275, 257, 227 and 177 who are all ranked above Eden and as a result, she's sitting at 361 in the live rankings, 100 places above Eden, and that's before these 20 points are added. She also beat the talented Danilovic in Brisbane quals earlier this year and 164 Gorgodze in Aussie Open quals (using her PR, so has obviously operated at a much higher level previously).

However, all that said, you're absolutely right, it is a massive opportunity lost as it is still a very generous P5 qualifying opponent, and if Eden ever did see herself as a genuine Grand Slam qualifying contender (outside of Wimbledon or the UAE ever hosting a slam...), then you really do need to be taking advantage of these situations when they arise. Shame.

A problem Eden has is that she can play very prettily - and no doubt she looked good in the first set - but when the going gets a bit tougher, as Hradecka I imagine started playing better, it doesn't seem to bring out any real grit or competitive edge to her. To win just three more games suggests she just drifted away in the match subsequently. You can't be satisfied with just winning a set, it's two you need to win a match and that needs a bit more fire as well as good looking shots.

Didn't expect this. Eden and Beth have a WC in the doubles.

L32: Eden Silva (GBR) & Sarah Beth Grey (GBR) [WC] 627 (425+202) v Nadiia Kichenok (UKR) & Veronika Kudermetova (RUS) 104 (40+64) <

That is a bit of surprise. Won't see either of those two in Glasgow then (not that they looked in with a chance of getting a look in there anyway)

Edit : $4695 per pair for turning up, nice trip !

Mini-break up in the MTB

4-2*
7-3*
*8-4
9-4*
*9-6

Win 61 16 10-6!!!!

$9,500 and 105 points. That's how you grab an opportunity with both hands.

Beth will be on the edge of the top 150 now. Fabulous!

Tremendous result. Wish I hadn't been travelling and had been able to follow it.

Pretty sure Beth will end up as a doubles specialist, but she will need to find a higher ranked partner.
Wouldn't be surprised if Freya and Naomi did the same.

With the current changes to the points structure, there's more and more chance that players will look to doubles even quicker than they did before (the US college lads are also prime targets).

They'll find it as hard, if not harder to play doubles than singles. Remember to get into a 15K doubles draw now you must be in the singles draw with teams where both are in the main draw for singles taking priority, and for 25K-100K acceptance is based on the best of singles or doubles ranking. Doubles players at ITF level risk being crowded out by high ranked singles players entering doubles.

A couple of years ago I was told that was her aim, partnering with Olivia Nicholls
