Dropped the first set.

Court is very sticky. Jo got into it in the end but Diyas very consistent.

Tempting to blame the fluff volley on set point on the scream I'm the crowd but it was just missed.

Can still come back. Needs to start the second well.

Anyone keeping the score on the success rate of these drop shots?

Jo is a break up in the final set.

4-6 6-3 3-1*

Was a bit concerned about a "very sticky" court. Wouldn't have thought that such a set-up was in our interests.

The court seems bouncy, but sticky. Takes sometime to get used to.
No started playing well half way through the first set and is running away with the final set now.

You'd think they would be used to it having had a few days practise on it.

For the record, Jo wins and Katie takes the first set playing some excellent tennis.

Katie is on form 6-3 first set with two breaks of service, so should serve first in the 2nd set. smile

I think she took the last four games to win the set.

*4-0 and 5-2* in the decider becomes *5-5 and it'll take some effort to win it from here.

Absolute heartbreak for Boulter. 3 MPs, including 2 in succession in the tie break, but goes down 6-3 2-6 6-7(6). Gutting.

Tie finely poised and I guess it's what would have been expected at the start of the day, but that will feel like one that got away. Katie was brilliant in sets 1 and 3, but credit to Putintseva, especially the way she saved some of those MPs.

Poots played the match points well. Just scrapped and was barely clearing the net at times.

I'd have taken 1-1 but the manner makes it feel a downer. Hope Katie is fit for tomorrow.

If anyone at the LTA was paying attention, they'd well know that Putintseva has an excellent record in FC on Hard Indoor courts, 9-2 (now 10-2).
They'd also realise she's 0-5 on hard OUTDOOR courts, and that as she plays every tie, they's schedule accordingly.

And, which genius chose Rafa's preferred, treacly, indoor surface as the final rush of manure to the head?

Jo can beat Putintseva, and Boulter still beat Diyas - perfectly possible to see those results go our way.
Unfortunately pretty much exactly equally possible to see them going the other way, too.
