Fed Cup 2019 World Group II Play-Off - Great Britain vs Kazakhstan- 20-21 April

Probably the same as WTA Elite Trophy and 4 groups of 3 and either first place going through to the semi or top 2 making the quarters. 16 would have been better though and there'd be enough decent teams for that to work - GB have never been amongst the best 16 nations in my time and yet would still be an asset to the tournament as a relatively big tennis nation with a few players in and around the top 100. I guess China would be in a similar boat as well, although I think they were in the world group a lot more recently than us.

Jo has been nominated for a Fed Cup Heart Award for her performances at Bath. You could argue that Katie Boulter should be nominated as well but it seems to be Jo v. N.Vikhlyantseva of Russia. Heather Watson won the award in 2017. Based on the top 12 world rankings GB would not qualify for a 12 country Fed Cup tournament. We may be a big tennis nation but in the womens game our glories basically finished in 1977..

Pleased to say Jo won the award.

Confirmation, as expected, that BT Sport will be showing this like they did in Bath.

The team has been announced - and it's the same as before - Konta, Boulter, Watson, Dart and Swan

Many on here going to either / both days?

You'd expect it to be Konta vs Diyas and Boulter vs Putintseva on day 1, and then the reverse fixtures (if both are required) and the doubles on the Sunday.

I will be attending on the Saturday only - I now have 1 spare ticket after a friend dropped out if anyone on here is interested in having it?

Going both days - will be tough to win, I fear.

Will also be going both days. Funnily enough first  match of Jo's I ever saw was when she beat Dyas at Eastbourne in 2015.

I see Unibet are making GB reasonably clear favourites - they've priced it at 7/20 (GB) vs 21/10.

Now, I normally wouldn't back against GB, but that does look fairly big value on Kazakhstan. I don't actually have a Unibet account, but assuming it's priced along the same lines at those where I have an account, I may be tempted. If Putintseva wins her 2 matches, then they just need 1 other rubber.

So Konta vs Diyas up first on Saturday, followed by Putintseva vs Boulter.

Dart and Watson confirmed for the doubles.

Oh and Bet 365 have it 4/9 (GB) vs 13/8 which looks far more realistic, even if still perhaps a bit too big.
