L16: (IR) Lloyd Glasspool ITF 99 (ATP 428) def. Tobias Simon (GER) ITF 147 (ATP 417) 7-6(7) 6-4

Simon served 24 aces so that's a very good result.

Isn't Evan doing great at the moment?

SO good to see. And long may it continue. He was such a good prospect but then had such bad luck with injuries.

With his ITF ranking, he'll be into any challenger he fancies so should be chancing his arm at higher stuff.

He''s taking Escoffier apart ...... 5-0

Yes.  5-0* is nothing to escoffier at, is it.   IGMC

We should also point out that Ryan P is having a really good game against the 4th seed Grenier and is currently a set up and 4-3* in the 2nd.

Edit

Make that *5-3 as Ryan breaks to serve for the match.

Double good news

Evan completes a 1st set bread stick against the top seed

Ryan P seals a straight sets win over the 4th seed.

Absolutely. Cracking win. Grenier must be ATP 380 or so.

And now Ryan P plays Lloyd so there's a guaranteed SF for GB.

Evan seemed to do ok before falling away, slightly disappointing for Jack but first outing of season on tour. Shame re Anton, strong performance.

But great win for Ryan and Lloyds win will give him confidence. I dont think Lloyd playing Ryan is such a bad thing, one SF guaranteed as CD says.

Yeah a SF return is decent considering we had nobody in the top 14 here, so in that sense, they have both done better than expected and a top 4 and 8 seed have been removed for this to happen. It might have been better, or rather more exciting, if it was a Jack, Anton, George or Aidan making a deep run, but they'll clearly get a lot of opportunities, so a good chance for one of these 2 and it'll help when entering future tournaments.

Good looking win from Ryan to follow up his pummelling of Neil Pauffley in R1. Be interesting to see how his match vs Lloyd goes.
