Badosa Gibert has just climbed 25 places in the rankings after losing in the final at Burnie to Belinda Wool****, a 24 yr old Australian qualifier, with a CH 513. Still unless she is tired now, this is the type of player ahead of her in the rankings that Gabi hasn't beaten many of yet. I hope whatever ailed her in her retirement last week has also sorted itself out.
I wouldn't read too much into Badosa Gibert losing to a lowly ranked Australian qualifier. Woolc ock didn't play much on the tour prior to July 2017 as she was playing in the US College system finishing with an ITA ranking of 5. Her WTA ranking is currently low because she has been out for most of the last year with a serious knee injury.

Yes, I didn't mean it that way round. I was impressed that a qualifier had won the tournament, and thought there must be some kind of backstory to why she was so lowly ranked so good to know. This week Woolc ock is up to 378 so a big jump for her, and she has a WC rather than an SE entry into Launceston.
Gabi won Launceston last year when it was a 25k. Hope she can draw on the good memories, she could do with one or two wins now.
