Yes, Freya was 5-2 up in that first set, then Jodie broke her back twice to get back to evens and the TB...
Jodie went ahead 3-1 in the second, but Freya has pulled it back to 3-3. Multiple deuces in the 7th game... and yet another one. Looks a crucial game for Freya to hold at the moment to stay in the match... Several GPs and BPs, and still no-one has won the game... 15 points so far... and Jodie breaks on the 16th. Decisive? 7-6(2) *4-3
EWS and Sofia Shapatava have also been given a walkover into the doubles SF. Will play the winners of the QF involving the top seeds, Hozumi and Inoue from Japan.
Jodie won 7-6 7-5 and now plays 2nd seed Marcinkevica in the next round who had a bit of success in England towards the back end of last year and is in Latvia's Fed Cup squad.
A good performance in her next match would be a real statement of intent for Jodie. Once her points go on for two wins this week she should be just inside the top 400 for the first time, so the QF match up wlll be a good opportunity for her to see where her game is at in terms of continuing to progress upwards this year.

Wow, what fantastic win for Jodie, wholly unexpected, especially by such a wide margin, and all the better for it. Now she's positively sailing into the top 300s, with a full head of steam, around 384 thus far according to OER, once these points are added. Next up is either Miyabi Inoue [6], or Sofia Shapatava, EWS' doubles partner, who are locked together in a very tight battle at present, one set all after 2 hrs.
Just to note that I'm not including ITF rankings in W25 match ups unless they are relevant to a player's acceptance into the event, as that is the only reason they are relevant at this level.
