boulter got happy knak for digging in and grinding the result not usual with players of her power game style but very useful and stand her in good sted going forward
Bonaventure won 6-1 6-1 the only time they met, 12 months ago in Auckland and has had a positive start to 2019, but I still think I'd rather Katie played her than Kuzmova, despite Katie's 2 wins in Obidos in late 2017.
Won't be easy but a good chance of qualifying for a Premier event, possibly her first 500 level event outside of Birmingham?
The previous match between Katie and Bonaventure took place a year ago when Katie was ranked 200 and Yseline was ranked 184 and I suspect it was to a large extent Katie playing well below her potential. It was in R2 after Katie had taken 3 sets to beat Sacha Jones (UNR), who had been a good player but had only played one tournament a year (Aukland) since 2013.
So the 1,2,3,4,5 and 7 Q seeds are out now, leaving only 6 Alexandrova and 8 Gasaparyan in the FQR. Gaspa plays Kudermetova (who beat Bencic) and Alexandrova plays the winner of the in progress final remaining 2QR match. I think Katie is he highest ranked remaining non seed, so assuming both seeds don't lose their FQR match, Katie should be within a shout of a LL place should it be needed, but of course we don't want to be thinking like that...

Yes, she certainly had displayed that quite a few times which makes it more the pity that her health issues have sometimes hindered this, more often on back to back matches and has fallen away. I think it is clear that at heart she is a good scrapper to add to her ability and maybe becoming more able to to do this more regularly.
I was quite surprised to see Bonaventure the marginal 4/6 favourite for the match tomorrow. Guess that Kuzmova win had something to do with it, possibly the Auckland meeting as well.
