How many main draw and qualifying wildcards are there? Naomi B is certainly in qualifying now. Katy D touch and go.
Touch and go for both of them. The withdrawal deadline has passed, and now waiting for the computer to do its stuff, with Naomi at A1 and Katy at A3 - with all MD and Q places filled (apart from WC's)
Edit - Which it has in the last few minutes, moving Naomi and Katy up five places and into qualifying

It is a bit of a shame about Gabi withdrawing - I wonder what that was with, whether she just wants a break / training camp / planning her next trip etc.? I kind of find myself quite pleased when the likes of Rus, Tomova, Martincova etc. withdraw, those ranked 120-200 to make the path for the GB lot a bit more straightforward, but it kind of defeats the object when one of our own in that ranking range pulls out herself.
I wonder what they will do with the MDWCs. Katy and Naomi will probably be the most likely candidates, but they could both probably do with winning a few matches to gain confidence and they'll have more chance of doing that in quallies - probably would (just about) give us more chance of getting extra main draw entries if the WCs went elsewhere and they went through quals. I guess the flipside is, if they both got a WC and drew each other in R1 then someone will have to win and that would preserve one of their rankings from tumbling further. Fran / Maia / Jodie may be in contention for other MDWCs as might Emma unless they give her a QWC instead.
On a side note, I see Sabine Lisicki, currently in a competitive battle with Muguruza in Hua Hin, is now in the main draw following all the withdrawals - good for her as her already modest ranking will likely take a big hit as she is defending WTA international semi final points this week, and good for the tournament to have a big name / popular former Wimbledon finalist in the draw, who probably won't be a major contender.
I'd be very surprised if Maia doesn't get a MDWC after last year. She is the highest ranked Brit not in the draw at the moment as well. Not so easy after that, with most of the next group probably in contention for more for QWC - Laura might get one of those if she is ready. Anyway, there are 13 ranked GB women in the alt list.
I think wildcards are going to be a very important part of the LTA's strategy this year - given the new system.
And so I expect those in the LTA training schemes to be favoured - Fran, Jodie, Freya, Emma Rad etc.
Although it will obviously be difficult to ignore the claims of the the top ranking 'others'.
I think they were last year, generally those that benefitted particularly at Wimbledon Qualys have made good progress. Emma R and Fran have progressed on the senior tour, Jack a finalist in the junior event has probably made the most dramatic progress in terms of transition, Aidan has also made progress, Anton has picked up a US Open junior doubles tittle only George hasnt really flown and I am sure he will push on this year.
If it were me, I'd give MD WCs to Maia, Fran, Jodie and Emma, and Q WCs to Beth, Freya, Laura (if she's fit) and probably Emily A. It might sound harsh, but given how long it is since either Katy or Naomi won a match I really don't see how you could justify giving them wild cards. They need to prove themselves with some wins in qualifying and I really hope they do.
At least it is very well timed to have a home 60K just after the home Fed Cup and thus unsurprisingly attracting most of our top ranked players as well as these 13 ranked players on the alts list.
Of our 24 ranked players only 5 ( Jo, Gabi, Sam, Emily Arb and Nell ) are not on the latest lists somewhere and clearly some of these would not be expected. Nell has one of her 3 counters coming off after Shrewsbury so will lose her main world ranking.

Yes, I thought it was one of ours that beat her, but hadn't her grandmother just died, so she was not really at her best - I seem to remember her mentioning that, but I could be confusing it . Not of course to take away from our Hev's performance, she was probably very young then.

I'd agree with those personally.
Yes, those would be very much in line with what I meant about the training group (with Maia being the outsider, based on other factors).
However, is there a limit on how many wildcards a woman can have? I believe it's 6 in WTA events - but in ITF? Do they cross?
If so, then the really 'in' players might want to keep them for richer events?????

Separate quotas for WTA, ITF 25-100 and ITF15s, each being 6 of which no more than 3 main draw Emma is age restricted to 4 WCs across all WTA and ITF 25 - 100s until her 17th birthday
