Don't know (or really care) about Liam's doubles ranking but he got absolutely hammered in the singles:

L32: Botic van de Zandschulp (NED) ITF 274 (ATP 536/CH = 308 in July 2017) def. (2) Liam Broady ITF 1554 (ATP 278/CH = 154 last April) 6-1 6-2

Where to next for Liam?

And retirement in a few months. No way he should get a Wimbledon wild card this year and can't see any future after that.

We are 5 months away from Wimbledon but yes both Broadys certainly need a big turnaround.

Liam's ranking history is a bit of a rollercoaster ( now going to drop to about WR 300 again ) but one day he is liable to fall off.

Liam has his off days but that is a shocker. Cannot see him surviving on the tour past this year if he doesn't make a swift turnaround, definitely needs to skip the clay and go back to the Asian hard court challengers this spring, it has been a happy hunting ground before and is probably his best chance of climbing back up the rankings.

That result means that there isn't a single GB singles player left standing at ITF level, though to be fair, some of the boys had tough draws.  cry

Liam and Arjun deserved that one, and Liam was playing pretty well for a non-doubles sort of player, from the 20 mins I saw.

Personally, I don't go with the people above who claim he'll be retiring by the end of the year.

I think Liam loves playing and he's still young enough to feel that the best is yet to come.

Also, he earned a decent amount last year - about £150k - so there's no instant problem of funds.

Ryan P and Andy W were coasting in their match, having won the second 6-1 after losing a tight first set. And up 5-1 or so in the MTB.

But somehow contrived to throw it away....... :(
