Thought it well worth adding an Aus Open Women's Doubles thread especially when we had a R1 winner.

Gives it a clear place and avoids disturbing anyone by doubles info popping up unexpectedly.

Hope it can have legs. I think while underdogs Harriet & Anett have a chance vs the #13 seeds.

Nice one Indy - I notice Harriet is 101 in live rankings, so close! One more win and top 100.

Also, I noticed Anna Smith nestling in the mid 90's ranking wise - what is her situation, did she retire or is she injured?

Anna had an op for something ( I forget the details ) and was pictured as part of a group of players in rehab towards the end of last year.

So I assume that she is coming back. I had thought that it might have been at the start of the year.

Congrats to Sam Stosur !

And Zhang, of course.

Beat the top two seeds (I don't like Kiki Mlad so that suits me fine) AND gave the home crowd something to cheer big about (and the Chinese support).

Sam's had so many demons playing at home, great to see her get the title today.

Yes, I watched a lot of that . Good match, some amazing rallies. So pleased for Sam and the delightful Zhang who played so well.
