Andy Murray- Slam post mortem

Andy will retire as a 3 slam winner, which is very great achievement in itself, but should have he won more? 1-3 I think.  What this also tells us, is that Stan really was lucky to win 3.

2016 AO- loses final to Novak- nothing he could do

2016- FO- lose final to Nadal-nothing he could do

2016- Wimb- wins

2016 US open, loses QF to Nishikori- would have beaten Stan in SF and then lost to Novak in the final

2015 AO- lost final to Novak, should have gone 5 sets, but not a lot Murray could do

2015 FO- lost tight semi to Novak- I think he would have beaten Stan in the final

2015- Wim- lost semi to Roger- should have beaten him and then taken down Novak in the final.

2015 US Lost to Anderson in 4th rnd bout would have still faced Novak in final, so would have lost

2014 AO- Should have beaten Federer in QF, would have face an injured Nadal in semi, and then could have beaten Stan in the Final. Stan was lucky to win the AO.

2014- FO lost in semi to Nadal- nothing he could do

2014 -Wim lost in QF- to Mugtrov- but still had a Federer Novak road block ahead, nothing he could have done

2014 US Lost in 4 sets at QF to Novak, should have taken the 1st set, would have then faced Nishikori and then Cilic in final. Missed opportunity.

2013 AO Lost final the Novak 4 sets, should have again taken the 1st set. Missed opportunity.

2013 FO- DID not play

2013 Wim- Winner

2013 UO lost in straight sets against Stan in QF, but all the usual road blocks were ahead.

2012 AO- Lost in 5 sets to Novak- Should have won. Would have face Nadal in final. Missed opportunity

2012 FO- LOST TO David Ferrer in QF, but Nadal was waiting

2012- Wim- lost to Fed in final- was outplayed

2012 UO- Winner

Cant remember if it was 15 or 16 but the only one I am still bitter about is the Novak feigning injury one. Murray was up a set and a break perhaps when Novak acts like he is about to retire. Then comes back playing better than ever. Completely psyched Murray out.

He really should have won at least one Aussie Open, the other results I think are fair.

This one does indeed hurt. Yes, he should have won a min of 4 slams

Wimbledon 2011 when he was a set and a break up against Nadal and perfect controlled agressive tennis, overhit one easy shot and let it affect him and just totally capitulated.

Vandy, he did win the first set in the 2013 AO, but in the second set TB a feather came onto court between serves and he made a massive deal about getting it moved, and then predictably double faulted. Again, did poorly after that.

Ah, yes FeatherGate. We've also had several SpideyCam incidents over the years...

The 2009 match at Wimbledon against Roddick. Much like the AO match he should've won against "injured" Novak, he should've won that match!

Yes, that SF was one that very definitely got away or at east should have been won. Then who knows vs Fed ( Roddick took Fed to that 16-14 in the final set ).

A Slam title around them would have been great for Andy's confidence and might have led to yet more than he ended up with later.

Strangely despite slams being the big currency, my favourite memories of Andy are the two Olympic titles, particularly the first where he smoked fed, and the dc title. Those and owning 2016 with a 90 percent win record

Edited to add, based on your Edit- I wish Andy had beat Fed in that tb...

I also enjoyed him playing with Laura in London. Very happy Andy beat Fed in London for many reasons. Bit tougher against Delpo in Rio (mainly because I realllllly like Delpo too.

And THAT DC lob! My word.

Which Andy Roddick match (pretty sure it was Roddick) where he told our Andy to "keep it social" because he was hammering Roddick?

And the point after saying "that's not social" after another ridiculous winner. Queen's 2011 semi.

Perhaps my favourite was against Acasuso at the 2008 French, such a destruptive, inventive performance. Sheer joy to watch.

Cheers wolf, may have to go and find that. And I have never heard of the FO one so will see if I can find that too (since nowhere showed FO on "normal" tv back then I don't think and I had no idea about steams and the like)

The match in 2016 where he was on that incredible run and Robredo is like "you d**k!" at the net is another good one.
