I watched Joe's match, it was Ram who had two serves at 5-4 in the second set tie break and served two very bad double faults, he showed a real lack of composure. Ram was the only player broken in the third set, his game really fell apart. Shame, a great chance missed for the guys.
Thanks Mark for the info, I was just following the scores. Pleased in a way that it wasn't Joe that served these DFs, not that it changes anything really.
Dan doesn't shrink from voicing an opinion, probably sometimes better not voiced.
But you know what, in this instance he seems to me to make a series of pretty good points.
Re Louis Cayer as a possible Performance Director, as discussed earlier in this thread he is clearly great for the doubles players and has great thoughts regarding that diiscipline. He is undoubtably a high quality widely admired doubles coach.
But I do recall a year or two ago that he was 'let out' by the LTA to coach/advise some singles players ( no idea how often he does this ) and one young female player trying to make her way in the game who enjoyed slicing the ball was delighted that the great man imparted the advice that she should basically do nothing but slice the ball all the time. Hmm. Me thinks leave him in his specialist role.
Re what Jamie was apparently saying more generally, I think our top doubles players have much less to complain about than most. They don't need or deserve even better comparative treatment.

It sort of does and doesn't in respect that Joe needs to keep an eye on this. It was probably a one off (it was bad, believe me) and I appreciate that the partnership is new but if Joe is going to be playing with an experienced 34 year old he has to expect better than this. Joe is on the up and he cannot be held back, we will wait and see.
With regards the above Evans / Murray comments I can see the arguments on both sides. One thing that bugs me about Jamie, a man I have always liked, is that he often talks as though he is a superstar which he is not. Brother Andy has stated on several occasions that the LTA ruined Jamie's game as a youngster which may be the case but Jamie needs to remember that he failed drastically as a singles player.
Even though vastly improved now, from say 10 years ago, doubles has saved him from the tennis dole. On balance I think Jamie should be happy with his lot.
