Does this mean they're no longer going to be providing live scores for fans? If so, why can't they just ban betting on 15Ks or say to the betting firms, set odds if you must but don't blame us (or expect us to investigate) if players throw matches?

Yes, no live scores for fans, from what I understand. Which is a real shame for the diehard few like us.... (but it is only a diehard few....)

But I don't think they'd be able to ban betting on 15ks if the scores were there - they don't control the private betting companies, and the companies are in many different countries, so it wouldn't work. Of course, they could just have a major time delay on livescores which would effectively kill it. But my guess is they'll just not have any cry

Far better for the ITF to keep the scores, make it very clear to the betting companies that they shouldn't take bets on 15K matches and if they do, on their own heads be it, then if they do continue to offer markets on 15Ks and keep getting taken to the cleaners by the fraudsters, surely it'll be in their own interests to stop. Apart from that, those who really want to make markets on and bet on these matches will still find a way, so they'll just end up 'punishing' the fans and the bad actors will still get away scott free.

Honestly, I don't think so, steven. That is, I agree with you that the tennis fan is being hung out to dry because the ITF can't manage their own back yard. It pi*sses me off, on many levels.

But betting companies make money - that's why they do it. I don't think they're being taken to the cleaners.

And I don't think big betting will or can continue if there's no livescores. You need the volume that point by point betting gives.

By the way, there were two sites I found interesting, on different aspects of the issue:

www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/feb/09/tennis-futures-circuit-betting-umpires

Guess I am going to have to get my "roving reporters" hat out of the closet and keep you all updated with live scores directly. Anyone want to chip in on the traveling expenses ?  wink

 But of course, fake news and bad reporting means the similar sounding Portuguese player is being reported to have been banned.

Bet365 blocked odds and then removed every market on the Gabashvili doubles on 75 *01. Gaba then broken on 75 *43 and 75 56*. They won Champs tiebreak playing normal. Set 2 and breaks aver very suspicious to me considering how he played service games (see previous tweet).

Gabashvili played like this today in doubles, hitting 2 doubles faults on 75 *43 and these "shots"

More "shots" of Gabashvili yday, that from 2-0 first clearly played to lose 2-6 and then full effort again to win match easy. I wonder if he will ever be asked questions about this behaviour, relating it to bookmakers/BF market. That would be a surprising move by the new ITIA.

The serves and shots in the doubles do appear dubious.

And whilst we are at it. Kicker and Jarry both get wildcards for Cordoba

jimmy soixante-dix
@hotdog6969
Jarry has apparently had his qualifying WC for Cordoba upgraded to a MD one now...two of the 3 WCs given out have gone to players suspended by the tour
