To be honest here guys I think the best thing to do is to stop posting rankings for futures because the logical thing to do (for me) is to use ITF rankings as it is an ITF event but then they are using ATP ranking for seeding and entry and the whole thing is too stupid for words (although it's a shame if players ITF rankings are not monitored).

Not a bad idea, wolf.    It was becoming hopelessly confusing!  Less time-consuming, too!  wink

I think whoever puts up the draws should choose for themselves how they do it.

But personally, without any ranking at all, I find the draws less meaningful - i.e. I've got no idea how the two Evans square up (I assume Hoyt is higher coz he's seeded)

So to me the ITFs rankings are still crucial - it's what the whole comparison thing is based on.

But then like for here Evan has higher ITF ranking than Lloyd, but as the seeding is done on ATP Lloyd is seeded higher. So if you were just using ITF ranking, it would just be confusing.

It's probably easier to get the ATP/ITF rankings from the acceptance list for futures, as they are both listed. The thread can be updated if needed with current rankings if it is crucial.
So..

L32: Evan Zhu (USA) 629/371 vs (6) Evan Hoyt 493/98

L32: Qualifier vs (2) Lloyd Glasspool 429/135

Edit: - from acceptance list, and took 2 minutes to check

So what happens if a player appears in the main draw who wasn't on the acceptance list, as with Klok in Monastir?

Just have to look him up individually - openerarankings.com can supply the neccesary. OR the ITF rankings list.

Yes obviously the ITF are not helping here since player's profiles list only their ATP/WTA rankings, and thus the majority of players now have N/A against their names for all the pertinent information. However if we don't list some kind of ranking then as CD says even posting the draw is meaningless as we have no idea of the comparative merits of the respective players. It's a mess but we have to find our own way to convey meaning until something more sensible is sorted out (when/if).confuse
