Yes a good win for Ola especially smile

R16: PITAK, Aleksandra (GBR) UNR/ITF 477 beat FLEMING, Terri (USA) Q UNR 6-4 6-3
R16: APPLETON, Emily (GBR) [5] 740/25 beat MINA, Brandy (FRA) UNR/UNR (CH:727 April 15) 7-6(5) 6-1

No idea about the American but Brandy Mina (sister of Gianni Mina who got up to about ATP 200) used to be a one of the stars of French junior tennis - some people touted her for great things - not quite sure what happened - she made it to WTA 700 or so. However, definitely a ringer .... well done, Emily.

Looks very much as if Emily is out to consolidate her ITF ranking, which will easily get her into any W25's that she wishes to enter. A tournament win here would get her up to around ITF15 (depending on other results). Currently she is first alt in one tournament, but would anyway get into all but one of the remaining W25's this month on her current ranking.

So just what the ITF were aiming at wink

Yes meanwhile Fran Jones, who is still has a higher WTA ranking than Emily (and more W25 wins) is starting to find herself lower on entry lists than Emily because her ITF ranking is lower.

Sorry, the addict, Emily can only gain a maximum of a net 10 points from this Caribbean trip when these points are added on the 28 January (assuming ITF rankings are only updated to the same schedule as WTA rankings). She is defending 60 finalist points from here last year and because next week's Guadeloupe has been upgraded to 25K she won't be able to defend the 30 SF points from there last year. Both will drop off on the 28th.

As for being ahead of Fran on Entry lists, she has to reach the final to not fall behind Fran when these points are added. If Emily loses tomorrow she will fall outside the top 50. If she loses the SF she'll just be behind Fran.

Ah, ok. I haven't quite got my head round the ITF drop-offs yet. I can see them on OER now. So she still needs to keep winning to make those W25 entry lists via ITF ranking.

The doubles battle was won by Emily +. Realised it's not so easy to find out ITF doubles ranking - have to go back into OER or one of the others, so haven't.

SF: Emily APPLETON (GBR) / Dalayna HEWITT (USA) [4] (502+UNR)/(3+1061) beat Aleksandra PITAK (GBR) / Katarzyna PITAK (GBR) (UNR)/(168+168) 6-4 7-5

F: Emily APPLETON (GBR) / Dalayna HEWITT (USA) [4] (502+UNR)/(3+1061) vs Eleni KORDOLAIMI (GRE)/ Alice TUBELLO (FRA) (455+UNR)/

Well Emily gave Kordolaimi a good working over, but Ola couldn't get past Tubello. She did keep her on court for almost two hours before losing a close match 3-6 (4)6-7 though.
Maybe that will count for something in the doubles final later today.

The fourth quarter final involving the top seed is still going on now, despite it being 12.30am over there.

? They are 4 hours behind UK time Ace, it is now nearly 19.30 in the evening there - this is Martinique in the Caribbean!

Ah, that explains that, thanks. Just saw 'ITF France 02A' and on Google scores and assumed in was mainland France.
