British Tour - 2019

THe British Tour event at Paddington this year is a Premier one, so top prize money.

But the inscription list is no real different from the Tier 2 last week at Roehampton.....

As well as Suzy and Andre, there's Tiffany and Joanna Garland, and Eliz Maloney, of higher-ranked interest.

But that's all - it's good money for those who signed up.....

In the big prize event, Joanna Garland came very close to losing her first match, losing the first set 1-6 and just scraping the second, before romping home in the third.

But it's been easier since then.

And the SFs are now:

Joanna Garland v Andre Lukosiute

Suzy Larkin v Tiffany William

There have been SO many retirements in this event (men and women), it's ridiculous.

However, thanks to two more retirements, the final will be played between Joanna and Suzy.

Both Tiffany and Andre are in the qualifying list for Roehampton starting on Monday :(

(As is Joanna)

At the Tier 2 event in Exeter, 2001-born Grace Piper (who did well at Roehampton) is top seed.

It's a real junior event, indeed, with Jizel M-S Fernandes as second seed, as well as Millie Bissett (2003), Morgan Cross, Amy Leather (2003), Millie-Mae Matthews (2003) and others....

Slightly off-track but important ....

I looked up a couple of the girls playing here, who I didn't know, and came across Michelle Dzjachangirova, who is from the Netherlands (or based here but plays for the Netherlands).

And there's a cute Youtube clip of her, age 9, doing tennis exercises, and twirls, and a bit of tennis, all very stylised, and production shot...

AND all set to the music of Lavigne's "I could be your girlfriend", which includes the lyrics:

You're so fine
I want you mine
You're so delicious
I think about you all the time
You're so addictive
Don't you know what I can do
To make you feel all right?

as well as:

Don't pretend
I think you know
I'm damn precious
And, hell yeah
I'm the mother****in' princess
I can tell you like me too
And you know I'm right

And lots more....

I'm sorry but, truly, HOW is that appropriate??????

Who in their RIGHT MIND would set a video of a little girl of 9, jumping around in tennis gear, to lyrics like this????

If Michelle or her family or her friends follow this forum, or do a google search for their name and come across it, please TAKE IT DOWN ! And have a serious think about what you want to put out there - someone should be ashamed of themselves.

Hope Millie is going to go on and make the tour - I keep seeing her name crop up for junior successes.

An interesting final: both now train at Bath. Grace has done really well recently, won g1 nationals in August and competed well in recent roehampton 25k s. Millie has the higher profile, including on here. It's only one match but the comparison will be interesting.

Millie has the higher profile mainly because she is two years younger, I would assume?

The match itself seems as though it was very close: but Grace just comes out on top:

FINAL Exeter Tier 2: Grace Piper def. Millie Bissett 4-6 6-3 7-5

Yes, partly as she (Millie) is younger but it is less than one year in fact. Also because she has done a lot of junior ITFs which Grace hasn't and clearly on this forum those who follow junior's results are looking at international tournaments rather than LTA G1 (or lower) junior tournaments.

Sorry, I thought Grace Piper was born in 2001? Is she 2002? My mistake....
