The United Kingdom is a country that consists of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. In fact, the official name of the country is "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland."
Great Britain is the name of the island northwest of France and east of Ireland that consists of three somewhat autonomous regions: England, Wales and Scotland.

so GB=UK+N.Ireland? I'm still a bit confused about it. Not that it matters, given the amount of NI tennis players. are there any? come to think of it, what about Eire players? cant think of ANY in the history of the game.
having said that i am not sure with the olympics, but i guess if its a event represneted by a uUK team NI will play with eng, scot and wales, if its a gb event they will play by them selves
also to note that atp may call it gb in ranking but include NI players, they have no separate counrty listed. but i dotn know if they have any players anyway.
