Luke up to LR 51 and Jonny LR 55, and a final win would nudge then up a few more spots. If they can get into the top 40 they should be getting into the Masters draws as they have they have increased the draw sizes to 32. This would be massive for them to play for bigger points and be good if they can do it as quickly as possible so they don't get stuck at the this level.
good point Wolf - what size is the draw at IW and Miami, do they only have 32 pairs also or will it be 48?
IW and Miami are Masters too so all Masters doubles fields have increased to 48, either in part or wholly down to Jamie and Bruno campaigning for the change to be made so that it's not just the top players (or a lower ranked player + a top one) in the draws = money and points for more players.
General Masters doubles were certainly planned to be as wolf says. And I too was assuming IW and Miami would simply stsy at 32.
Challenger single draws have increased from 32 to 48.
Yeh, sorry perhaps I caused the confusion. I was wondering if IW and Miami, which have larger singles draws at 96, would also have similarly larger doubles fields than the standard 32. But it was just musing. Personally I think 32 in each masters event is just fine, BTW.
Final: (1) Rohan Bopanna & Divij Sharan (IND/IND) CR 76 (37+39) vs Luke Bambridge & Jonny O'Mara CR 118 (56+62)
Bops & Sharan were almost put to the sword yesterday by Leander Paes & Miguel Ángel Reyes, but eventually took the MTB by 17-15. They only just subdued Simone Bolelli & Ivan Dodig by 15-13 in the MTB a few minutes ago. I hope Luke & Jonny are prepared for a battle!
