Re Andy - one really important thing to note here is that Andy is trying to play a completely different game. His hip means his lateral movement is nowhere near where it was and as such he cant do the scurrying and patient game he is renowned for. He is going to have to attack and be offensive and try and shorten the rallies. He probably should have done more of that earlier in is career, but now he is being forced to play a new game for him; he will of course make a lot of errors in matches to start with I imagine and players like Medvedev at the top of the game will exploit those. Whether he will ever get his game to where it wants to be, we will see but at this stage that is really not surprising to see him get beaten.
SF: (WC) James Duckworth & Jordan Thompson (AUS/AUS) UNR (0 [but a CH of 253 in January 2016]+296) vs (4) Rajeev Ram (USA) & Joe Salisbury CR 51 (21+30)
L16: (4) Daniil Medvedev (RUS) WR 16 defeated (PR) Andy Murray WR 240 by 5 & 2
Dont think that was a bad one - Andy clearly will not be match tight, played a good player. Main thing right now for him is court time.
Wondered whether he may try and take a wild card somewhere (Sydney or Auckland obviously) next week depending on how he feels of course?
Stu Fraser in today's Times reckons it's more likely that he'll head straight to Melbourne to prepare for the AO.
I think most of us are coming to the sad realization that Murray will never be a contender again. I do think he can be top 100 again, and maybe scrape a ATP 250, but really not much more. I know some players when they lose a weapon can adapt to change to an older aged game like Roger Frauderer did. I do not see andy doing this, his movement and scampering was biggest part of this game and now this is gone. When Frauderer got old, he became a serve bot and also had the shots to finish rallies. All Murray has is the backhand. If he is to survive, he will need to develop a new forehand shot.

I fear Vandy might be right here, but it's not fair to judge Andy's play on two matches, to be fair.
