As usual it feels very much like I'd have achieved the same throwing darts blindfolded, but it's an entry all the same. No Naomi Broady or Laura Robson, but happy to be proved wrong on either.

And I believe so far all but one has that current top 6 as their top 6 in some order.

All have Jo as their #1. And then all either Heather or Katie B as their #2.

Last year the old guard struggled to hold on to their high rankings while the new guard surprised us by the speed they climbed the rankings. Will the high climbers from last year continue their climb or pause and be hunted down by the even younger new guard of Lumsden, Burrage, Jones and Raducanu, etc. The present top six do seem to be far enough ahead to remain at least in the top 10 for another year, barring injuries, but after that there are so many unknowns. Will Carreras, Robson and Murray make a come back? The last time Naomi Broady started to slip down the rankings I predicted the slide would continue, however she got a new coach and hit a new career high. We have seen changes of coach creating dramatic surges up the rankings before with Anne Keothavong, Elena Baltacha, Jo Konta as well as with Naomi. So it is all very unpredictable this year. With the large number of high potential youngsters now playing we could be heading for some of our best ever periods over the coming years. It should be fun seeing how it all pans out.

Edited mine too. I've added Fran in for Jodie and in line with recent results, I've edited Harriet and Watson. Think that's how I'll keep it.

I think this year's prediction is particularly difficult, as despite the top 7 more or less picking themselves, predicting who is going to break into the top 10 is much more difficult, as we don't really know how easy it will be for the youngsters with mixed WTA and ITF rankings to get into 25K plus tournaments. However, this is my best guess (until I change my mind tomorrow).

There's always a struggle over the final place and this year I'm torn between Laura and Jodie. I hope I'm not putting the jinx on Laura but I feel if she is fit enough to make a comeback (fingers crossed) she should be good enough to make progress up the rankings.

Anyway best of luck to all our players for 2019 and I hope they all have a successful year. So excited that the new season has started again!!

Although I left Laura out of my 10, fit and well I could see her back easily inside the GB top 10.

It was more no real feel at all to quite where she could end up GB or world ranked that I left her out.

Oh well, here are my guesses for now. Hope Jodie makes it back out of her protective boot soon... but she also has no points to lose the first half of the year and is already GB#10. I think Katy D is likely to be in the top 10 still as well, but that leaves one less place for youth - and Mandy's comeback. She rated her 15k come back win end of last season as her 'best win ever' so hoping for more this year. Think Emma R could be there too, but as others have noted it is not clear how much she will play yet at senior level. Expect her to be there and thereabouts. Laura R and Naomi? Who knows they could be anywhere. As for Heather, will she get some decent coaching this year? She's 26 now, and hasn't had a good enough coach for a while now. Maia surprised most of us end of last season too.. it will be interesting to see if she continues in that vein or goes back to some of her less inspiring performances throughout the middle period of last year... Good luck to all, and let's hope for some pleasant upside surprises as we had last year. confuse

Ok, these are my lists from last week - no changes , I think you might as well just stick to your original assessment, there's a long way to go to Dec. '19.

And I'm pretty sure that I'm well off but I'm leaving out Naomi and Katy Dunne, partly as a tactical play (surely they can't both finish below WTA and partly because I also think that wildcards will be more and more important this year and the youngsters are more likely to get them.
Eden Silva is a joker card - if she gets her head sorted, I think she might surprise. And no one else has her so why not..... (NB I've put in Laura every year, and every year she's injured, so that's a reverse tactic - hopefully she will FINALLY be injury-free AND on good form and crack the top 150 in no time flat).

I backed Eden last year, and although she finished up GB #14, she was actually -12 positions for the year. Under the new format she moves up to GB #12, but in terms of wins she only made two 25k QFs last year, so she will need something significantly better this year if she is to break into the top 10.

Quite optimistic predictions for me this year. I've added two for my reference when I look back next year.
Laura is again an unknown factor, and I think Emma could do really well but I have no idea what her school/tennis balance is going to be.
