Had a couple of points for 3-1* in the second, but goes out 57 63 62

Good effort in 30 degree heat. She can only have just missed a seeding

So I think you have been saying for many years.

Emily clearly feels positive benefits from her experiences as a touring pro tennis player and sometimes coach which has kept her going much longer than almost all other Brits.

The time will come when some other life appears to her more beneficial but she isn't taking from anyone and it is up to her.

Top 15 WTA ranking by age (those at least 33). If you are that good when ranked against your contemporaries why retire if you are enjoying it.

Yes it is, its like Jimmy White at snooker in a lot of ways, happy playing even though losing most matches and not really any chance of winning anything. Coaching would be the logical way forward. Im envious of all the travel would love to be able to do that myself, experiencing all the cultures of the world.

I suspect she is using tennis as an excuse to keep travelling at this stage (or she just doesnt know what else to do yet!) Shes not won a singles match in 6 months and has a crazy schedule for someone whos making barely any money, if it wasnt for the fact she clearly loves visiting the likes of India I doubt she would be doing it.

Me too. Why on earth would she retire if she can afford to maintain this enviable lifestyle?

Is she paying for this lifestyle though, or is it her parents?

Thanks Tom, I don't know the details other than for instance as you and others have said she makes good contacts for at times pretty well remunerated coaching and say is perfectly willing to plug a product or two on social media.

Seemingly self made indeed and doing what she wants to do with the one life that she is given. Often far from direct travel nor that splendid accomodation but she has a tale or two to tell and you are retired a long time. I think I can understand how it could still appeal even with very limited match wins.

I do envy her, I envy her single minded determination.
