long standing anual event aiming to get some resonabley big names out to the kingdom during they best month wether wise for tennis as its not stupid hot their now (~24-26 C)
and they usual get a decent field with top 100 names taking the chance

This week is chosen because the players wanted it in this week so they could include it in their pre-season preparations before heading to Australia.
Thanks - guess it still seems odd to me given the entry list as to which players benefit really. Sure, there are some 100 players but none, not even Kiki, you would exactly call headliners. *shrug* Just my opinion.
