Not really about Mandy. That's 1 ITF point just for turning up - one of the inequalities of the new system - imagine being in Qualies draw of 64 or even 128 as often happens in the US. Will make picking events even more important. The LTA shpuld run a course - but it would just say "Get on a plane".

There should be far fewer 15Ks with spaces in qualifying next year. With all ITF qualifying being a 24 draw that will push some higher ranked players that would play 25K qualifying down to 15K as they'll be no spaces in 25Ks, and players that would normally be in the bottom half of a full 15K qualifying this year won't get in next year so will have to find another 15K to play. A combination of those effects should fill most of the vacancies in some of the 15Ks that there are in the current system.

Well surely if you get a bye you won't get a point...
Yes, Mandy has neither really 'reached' the FQR or 'qualified' from it. So do either the FQR 1 point or qualifying 2 points apply to her?? - in general do byes negate either or in this instance both combined if achieved by byes?
Basically she will start in the MD just like all these who didn't go through the process of being in the qualifying draw and start with no points until they win a round.
I think Strongbow was talking more generally that those who are playing in qualifying get a point for just turning up to a weak 15K, whereas those that turn up to a full 15K qualifying need to win match(es) to get 1 point.
As for the question on points and byes, from looking at some other examples where players get through qualifying with a bye in the September Spanish 15Ks and lose in R1 of the main draw and their official shadow ranking points from a couple of weeks ago, it does appear that they do get the 2 points for qualifying. Without knowing for certain, I guess it is considering that as separate draws, it doesn't matter how you qualified but just that you enter the main draw as a qualifier and so get the 2 points.
Actually my (brief) comment was more that Mandy doesn't have to play qualifying, and is closer to the matches with the bigger points. So sad to see her at the very bottom of the alternates on the entry lists, with little hope of actually getting into tournaments right now. Every point counts, however it is earned.

RS has quessed right about what I meant to say.
Margaux KOMANO (FRA) played twice at Monastir in October - her only tournaments. In both instances she got a bye to QR2(fqr) and lost. According to the ITF pdf for 5th Nov. she has 2 points from 2 tournaments.
Audrey DABOMVE (AUT) has 4 points from 6 tournaments. Her only ITF counters are 2 pts each from Melila and Monastir. In both cases she got a bye in the FQR and never played a qualies match.
So Mandy may well have 2 points already without hitting a ball. Good luck to her.
Some of these matches are being streamed but Amanda's match isn't. She is 1/50 to win, so hopefully there'll be more opportunities to watch her later in the week.
